Jim Davis
JD’s father started introduced him to tennis when he was ten. He played tennis, basketball, and cross country as a freshman at St. John’s High School. JD played varsity tennis at St. John’s all four years, making it to States in Singles his senior year. He continued playing tennis all four years at the University of Toledo. The team won two league MAC Titles, and JD won 3 Doubles & Singles Individual Titles. He went on to be ranked number 1in Men’s Singles in the Midwest in 1978 & 1988. JD became a USPTA Master Professional in 1991. He was named USPTA National Professional of the Year in 1993. He is 1 of 300 in the United States to earn this title. Justin Swiger and JD have been the Head Coaches at St. John’s Jesuit High School for 19 years, compiling a record of 360-65. In 1988, JD became an owner and teaching professional at Shadow Valley. He enjoys the professional culture of the teaching staff as well as the management team. For JD, it is a joy to come to work at Shadow Valley every day and help players reach new levels of ability, win championships, and enjoy the great sport of tennis. He is happily married to Diana Davis. In his spare time, JD enjoys spending time with his wife and children, Alexa, James, Julie, Chelsea, and David.

Justin Swiger
Head Professional Justin Swiger was a graduate of Watterson High School. In high school he was a singles qualifier and a two-time state runner up in doubles. A three-time all-state player and a member of the Watterson Hall Fame. He was also a 1991 State Team Champion. After a strong junior career, he went on to play for the University of Toledo. During his career at UT, Swiger was both the #1 singles and doubles player. In 1993 he captured the MAC doubles championship. Justin was a member of the Ohio Valley Davis Cup Team and is to be inducted into the St. John's Hall of Fame in the fall of 2024. Justin has been the co-head coach at St. John's for 19 years where he has coached a state singles champion and the 2011 State Team Championship team. He has coached over 20 all state players and was named the 2023 USTA Coach of the Year. Justin is the Head Professional at Shadow Valley Tennis & Fitness Club for over 20 years and has been on the staff for over 30 years. Justin has a wife of 28 years, Heather. He also has 2 sons, Austin, and Cameron. He enjoys fishing and the outdoors in his free time.

Cesar Balibrea
Tennis became an instant passion of Cesar’s at age 6 while hitting balls with his dad and older brother. By age 11 he began taking lessons from his first coach, who ran a tennis program in Aluche (neighborhood of Madrid, Spain). Cesar began to play junior RFET (Spain's Tennis Federation) tournaments with some level of success, and played Nationals at age 15-17. At age 16 he started assisting his coach with his program, which was Cesar’s initiation into the teaching/coaching avenue of tennis. In 1994 & 1996 he worked for José López-Maeso (former Davis Cup player for Spain, ranked 63 on ATP in 1982) at his tennis academy Real Club de Tenis López-Maeso in Madrid, Spain. Cesar started working at Shadow Valley in 2005 and it has been like his second family ever since. In his spare time, Cesar loves music and watching historical films/documentaries, and of course; watching The Tennis Channel! Cesar has a 26 year old son and a 24 year old daughter, and he and his wife have been married for over 30 years.

Tim Thornton
Tim started playing tennis at the age of 10. He participated in a summer camp at Ottawa Park in Toledo, Ohio. He played collegiate tennis for Benedict College in South Carolina. After his college career ended, he pursued playing travel tennis and teaching. After playing at Shadow as a junior growing up, he returned and started working at Shadow Valley in 2017. He feels SVC is the best in town! Tim’s hobbies include beekeeping, snake breeding, gaming and troweling! Tim also owns Deuce Social Lounge located inside Shadow Valley.

AJ Szozda
AJ is a graduate of the Ferris State University Professional Tennis Management Program. He has been teaching tennis for over 20 years and is also the Boys Head Coach at Southview High School. AJ has developed a college national champion, several state qualifiers and numerous juniors that have gone on to play college tennis. He was previously the Head Pro at Shadow Valley Central and is currently the Director of Tennis at the Ottawa Hills Tennis Academy.

Jennifer Walton
Jenn started playing tennis at the age of 10 with her dad. She played varsity tennis in high school all 4 years and drifted away from the sport for 22 years. She came back to tennis from the encouragement of a neighbor and played on a Shadow Valley team as a 3.0 a few years later. She caught the bug and has been a member at Shadow ever since. Jenn started working part-time at the Central Shadow location in the summer of 2016. She was promoted to Manager in January of 2020. In March of the same year she became the manager at the Maumee location. She has worked building the junior program and now oversees the day-to-day operations, runs billing and collections, handles the adult programs, permanent court times and junior USTA tournaments. In her time away from Shadow, Jenn enjoys visiting her grown children in Washington State and Madrid, Spain and spending time with her friends and dogs. Reading, walking and gardening are her favorite downtime activities.

Mady Arquette
Mady started playing tennis with her dad at the age of 11. She played first singles on her varsity tennis team all four years in high school. She qualified for state in both her sophomore and senior years. Mady played collegiate tennis for the University of Findlay for five years while obtaining her undergraduate degree in Business Marketing and her Master's Degree in Business. Shadow Valley has been a huge part of her tennis success and has always felt like a second home to her. She has been working at Shadow Valley for over five years. In her free time, Mady enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, and pickleball, reading, running, and spending time with her friends and family.

Julie Britton
Julie learned the game of tennis as a kid, playing mostly for fun on family vacations, and participating in a few junior clinics. She took a very long hiatus and re-learned as an adult, with the aid of Jim Davis of Shadow Valley Tennis, as her coach and mentor. She was encouraged to join her mom’s USTA 3.0 team in 2014, and since has worked to improve her skills and game. Currently, she plays on several USTA Shadow Valley teams, playing at a 4.0 and 4.5 level. She prefers to play singles and enjoys the dynamics and strategy of the game. She started working at Shadow Valley Tennis in 2021 at the front desk and helping with clinics. Now she enjoys teaching tennis to both adults and juniors and finds it rewarding to see the progress made. She took a management position at Shadow Valley in 2023 and enjoys being immersed in tennis culture, with great staff and members. Outside of her tennis life, Julie enjoys travelling, reading, gardening, hiking, and outdoor activities. She also remains close to her family and friends, and values spending time with them.
